Chris Mocella

Chris Mocella

Chris J. Mocella '01 is a Science Officer within the Laboratories division of U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Washington, D.C. Before graduating cum laude with Departmental Honors in Chemistry, Chris worked with Dr. John Conkling on his undergraduate research in the field of energetic reactions and pyrotechnics. Following graduate studies and research at the University of Virginia, Chris began working with CBP as a physical scientist before his promotion to a program manager at the headquarters level. Chris still returns to WC every summer to support Dr. Conkling's yearly Summer Pyrotechnics Seminar held at Washington College for over 25 years. Chris comes from a WC family line: his mother Dr. Beverly Wolff was tenured faculty in the English department as well as an Assistant Dean (and still teaches occasional night courses), and his sister Dr. Barbaranne (Mocella) Liakos '98 is both a WC graduate and has held a visiting lecturer position in the Art History department.
